Born in Oaxaca, Mexico in 1990, Mario Torres started playing double bass at the age of 12, at the ‘Orquesta Infantil y Juvenil Libertad, with Maestro Mauro Ramírez Pérez. Afterwards, he took private double bass lessons with professor Javier Cruz, principal double bass at ‘Orquesta Filarmonica de la Ciudad de Mexico’ and with professor Alvaro Porras, Double bass member of the ‘Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Mexico’. Later on, he continued his studies at the music school ‘Vida y Movimiento Ollin Yoliztli’, in Mexico city with professor Alexei Diorditsa.

In 2014, Mario moved to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, to continue and finish the bachelor studies at Codarts, University of the Arts, studying with professor Mathew Midgley and finally he moved to London in 2016, to do the master degree in Orchestral Artistry at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with professor Luis Cabrera and professor Rinat Ibragimov, were he graduated with Distincition Class and Artist Diploma.
